The Harrow Sweet is a high-quality European pear. They are cold-hardy, growing well in our Garrett County climate. Fire Blight is a problem for pears, including the Bartlett, but the Harrow Sweet is resistant to Fire Blight, which is great news for pear lovers.
When ripe, they are yellow with a red blush and a bit of russeting. Their taste is sweet and juicy with a hint of spicy undertones. They are good for eating fresh, canning, and baking.
Harrow Sweet ripens around mid-September.
This is a standard size tree and will grow to 20′ to 25′.
Pollinate with Potomac and Russetted Bartlett. Tree will be 20′ to 25′ at maturity. Can tolerate some heavy clay soil but is better with silt. Will not need support once mature. Fruit ripens in September.
