Photos from Last Year's Sale
Are you wondering what the trees and bushes will look like when you get them? Here are some photos from last year’s sale. The trees and bushes offered in this year’s sale will be similar.
Fruit Trees
These are the trees sold in last year’s Fruit Tree and Bush sale. They ranged in size from 4′ to 6′. As you can see, most were on the larger end of the scale. The trees for this year’s sale are grown in the same nursery and will be similar.
Some of the varieties are different this year, and we have two cultivars that are dwarf size, so they may not all look like this. But the photo should give you some idea of the quality.
They are bareroot trees. We pre-bagged them in a solution to keep their roots moist. However, you do need to plant them right away, hill them in, or keep their roots moist.
Blueberry Bushes
The Blueberry bushes are all 2-Year plants and range in size from 6″ to 2 foot. The majority of them were 18″ to 24″, as you can see in the photos.
Be aware that Chippewa is a low/high bush blueberry, so it will be a little shorter than the high bush blueberry plants pictured here.
For those purchasing the Blueberry 4 Pack, which has 4 different cultivars that ripen in succession, please keep in mind that because they bear fruit at different times of the year, they also set leaves and buds at different times. Notice from the photos that some are leafing out and some are not. That doesn’t mean that some of the bushes are defective in the set. It just means that some are still hibernating. Do not be surprised to find each of the bushes in the 4 Pack to be at different stages of leafing and budding.
Elderberry Bushes
Elderberry bushes are one-year plants. They come potted in 3.25″ containers. Plants are roughly 2″ tall.
Raspberries
We didn’t get a photo of the Raspberries from last year, but the Black Raspberries were a single cane that was 18″ to 24″. The Red Raspberries were on first year canes, so they were a single cane that was about 2″ to 3″ in height. Both will come potted in a plug pot.
Varieties are different on both the Black and Red Raspberries this year, so last year’s sizing may not be consistent. Look for Red Raspberries to be around 2″ to 4″ this year, because the red raspberries are always on first year canes. The Black Raspberries may be the same size or larger, depending on variety. Some grow on first year canes and some second.
In case you are curious as to why we changed varieties this year, it was partially to give you some variation and allow for pollination with different cultivars for folks who bought both this year and last year. And it was partially because the nursery was not expecting such a jump in sales on those cultivars last year, so they are down in stock now. The Black Raspberries were on two-year canes, so they couldn’t have the stock replenished by this sale.
